Writing Assignment #1

I love this picture of Marilyn Monroe. Its not one you see often stylized in posters or other memorabilia, but it is my favorite. First of all, she's an icon. She was a sex symbol back in her day, and probably still is, but she didn't fit the typical ideal measurements back then. She was actually considered on the "full figured" side because she had curves. I love the she embraced her curves and her body. I think more females now days could benefit from her as a role model in that regards. This photo also speaks to me on a more personal level. My mom is a "tomboy" and I always tease that I must have gotten my love of makeup from my aunt, her sister. Everything I learned about applying makeup, it was self taught. This photo puts me in awe of how flawless and glamorous she looked. I feel like its the epitome of being a girl and wish I had a big sister or female figure like that in my life to learn from.
