Writing Assignment #1
I love this picture of Marilyn Monroe. Its not one you see often stylized in posters or other memorabilia, but it is my favorite. First of all, she's an icon. She was a sex symbol back in her day, and probably still is, but she didn't fit the typical ideal measurements back then. She was actually considered on the "full figured" side because she had curves. I love the she embraced her curves and her body. I think more females now days could benefit from her as a role model in that regards. This photo also speaks to me on a more personal level. My mom is a "tomboy" and I always tease that I must have gotten my love of makeup from my aunt, her sister. Everything I learned about applying makeup, it was self taught. This photo puts me in awe of how flawless and glamorous she looked. I feel like its the epitome of being a girl and wish I had a big sister or female figure like that in my life to learn from.

Critique #2 - Crystal
1.) The red really stands out! I really like the depth of field and how much detail of the first chain you can see.
2.) The yellow really pops on the flower. I also like that there is yellow in the background on the left, but that it is blurred out from depth of field so that you don't really know what it is which does not distract from the original picture.
3.) The blue on the sign in the back is what caught my eye the very first second. The peaches have an orange tint and the tent has some orange in it too so my eye was looking for something different.
4.) I'm loving the contrast between the yellow flower and the blue sky as the background. Again, great depth of field.
5.) Great stop motion picture! Of course the boy's shirt pops out, but i love the stop motion and the fact that he is not looking at the pictures.
6.) The purple definitely stands out, but also because the front chair is pulled out more than the others as well. I like the line the chairs create to pull yoru eye to the back of the picture.
7.) I like the pop of the batter's yellow shirt, but also love that the writing on the shirts in the background is the same yellow and pulls your eye to the rest of the picture as well.
8.) Another great stop motion picture! The background is a bit busy for this color to pop as much as the others, but because its a bright yellow, it does the job!
9.) I love the technique used for this photo. Again, the blue in the sunglasses with the blue in the sky really pulls this photo together well.
10.) The water and sky really draw your attention in this photo. Great job with the stop motion.
11.) The yellow definitely makes your eye go directly to the climber. This goes well with the Rule of Thirds. I love how much detail you can see in the rock, it really adds dimension.
